FAQ

Do I qualify as a young professional?
Probably! The definition is meant to be very inclusive. Many of us are in our twenties and thirties, but we also welcome anyone who is young at heart or wishes to be supportive of young professionals. To us, professional means anyone who is actively contributing to the economic, infrastructural, political, cultural, or social development of Vermont. That means farmers, craftsmen, entrepreneurs, bankers, teachers, students, artists, practitioners, lawyers, journalists, parents, those looking for their path in life, and more.

If you feel that you have a stake in Vermont and want to help make it a better place to live and work, you can count yourself among us.
Do I have to be a member of a young professionals organization to attend?
Nope! We welcome and encourage anyone with an interest in the event to attend.
What can I expect at the summit?
The summit is a jam-packed day filled with opportunities to learn, network, and contribute your ideas.

The Young Professionals Summit of Vermont is focused on collaboration and confronting issues that Vermont’s young workforce face. It is about both personal professional development and how we as professionals can make an impact in our workplaces and communities.

By the end of the day, we hope you will walk away with strategies you can put to work in your personal and professional life, and we hope that collectively we will have laid groundwork for real change in our state.
Where is the summit?
The summit will be held in locations around downtown Rutland. If you’re not familiar with the region, we’re very excited to show it to you. Reach out directly with any specific questions you have about the area.

The main events of the day will take place at the beautiful historic Paramount Theatre. Additionally, breakout sessions, workshops, and networking opportunities will take place at locations within walking distance. Don’t worry, we’ll have guides and maps.
Where can I park?
Anywhere! Street parking is free on the weekends in Rutland.

There is also a parking garage that will have a small fee for the day. After parking in the garage, you can walk to the far side (south), take the stairs down to the first floor and enter the passageway, walking past Born to Dance. You'll exit onto Center Street and the Paramount Theatre will be directly in front of you.
WHAT ABOUT PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION?
There are several very good public transport options. Both the Rutland train and bus stations are in walking distance of the event.
  • Amtrak
  • Greyhound
  • The Bus
What's the food like?
There will be coffee and pastries in the morning catered by the Bakery. Enjoy the lunch of your choosing in Downtown Rutland from 12:30 - 1:30pm. Downtown Rutland is full of great options or head down Center Street to grab a bite at Vermont's largest farmers market.
